Excluding Network Addresses |
|
From time to time, particularly when scanning TCP/IP networks, ENT NetCenter will come across network addresses corresponding to devices that it is unable to audit automatically (such as routers, printers and other non-windows based machines that have no WMI interface).
In such cases you can Exclude the network addresses corresponding to the routers/printers/etc. on your network from network scans and audits. To exclude one or more network addresses from network scans and automatic audits, simply select the network connection(s) that you which to exclude from the grid in the networks area of ENT NetCenter and then click on the Exclude Address button on the toolbar.

Excluding a network address simply tells the network auditing engine to skip over that address during network scans, so that it doesn't appear in your list of network connections with an error message in the Network Status field. Of course, excluding the device from network audits doesn't mean that you can't record the device in your inventory. Having excluded the device from automatic audits, you can then go ahead an manually add the device to your inventory (recording any information that you would like).
