Why does Network Auditor show machines on our network as disconnected?
In order to audit and monitor the machines on your network, Network Auditor requires the Remote Registry Service to be enabled on both the remote and client machine. If the Remote Registry Service is enabled on both the machine that is showing as disconnected and the machine that is running Network Auditor, you can try: If file and print sharing is enabled on the remote machine, try to connect to this machine using Windows Explorer. This will at least ensure that you can see the machine on your network, from the machine running Network Auditor or Network Monitor. Try to connect to the remote machine registry using RegEdit (select Start -> Run and then type regedit, from Windows). If you cannot connect to the remote machine using RegEdit, then there is a problem with the Remote Registry Service on either the client or the remote machine. Usually, this has to do with security privileges, and you should check to make sure you have been granted the appropriate rights, on your network or the remote machine, to access the remote machine registry
